Kaisi Aarti - Guru Nanak Pad

The whole sky is the platter for the Aarti of our Lord; upon which the Sun and Moon are diyas (lamps) and the stars are the precious jewels and pearls. The fragrance of sandalwood from the mountains that is carried by the wind is the incense and Air itself is the fan. All the plants of the world are the flower offerings to You, O Luminous Lord.

What a beautiful Aarti this is!

Your Aarti destroys our fear. The Unstruck melody of your word (Shabad) is resounding through the temple drums.

You have thousands of eyes, and yet You have no eyes. You have thousands of forms, and yet not even one is Yours.
You have thousands of Lotus Feet, and yet You do not have even one foot. You have no nose, but you have thousands of noses. This Play of Yours entrances me.

Your light enlightens all.
Through Guru's Teachings, the Light emerges. By lighting our inner flame, we offer You the true aarti. ||3||

My mind is enticed by the honey-sweet Lotus Feet of my Lord. Day and night, I thirst for them.
Bestow the water of Your mercy upon Nanak, the thirsty song-bird (Sarang), so that he may come to dwell in Your Name.

Br Karsanbhai - A dedication to The Professor of Inner Engineering

In complete awareness of his soul, Pujya Brahmnishth Karsanbhai left his mortal body and continues his onward journey to Moksh.

It is our privilege to be graced by the satsang of Enlightened teachers such as Br Karsanbhai.

As an act of gratitude, and a pramod reflection of his divine inner virtues we share a few of your experiences, and memories of your time with Br Karsanbhai below as a dedication to him.

Shrimad’s appreciation, for the invaluable gift of 'Beej Gnan' that Saubhagbhai had bestowed upon him, permeated all his correspondence. Shrimad and Saubhagbhai were soulmates. Shrimad composed the famous and timeless ‘Atma Siddhi Shastra’ for Saubhagbhai, so that he could remember the letter of 'the six fundamentals' in verse format.

શ્રી સુભાગ્ય ને શ્રી અચળ, આદિ મુમુક્ષુ કાજ;

For the benefit of Shree Saubhagya and Shri Achala and other true seekers,
And for universal upliftment, I have imparted teaching that is instrumental for attaining true happiness.

Shrimad poured out his wisdom before Saubhagbhai both in correspondence and in person. Saubhagbhai is the beneficiary of the largest proportion of Shrimad’s letters, compiled in the ‘Vachnamrut’, and in the seven years of their association they spent 560 days together. In these intimate letters we can see a great deal of the path to enlightenment and its practical aspects. It also gives us a glimpse into Shrimad’s spiritual disposition and elucidates the process of Saubhagbhai’s spiritual upliftment.

Saubhagbhai never wavered in his devotion to Shrimad and continued to implement his spiritual guidance. Towards the end, his spiritual state had been so elevated that Ambalalbhai wrote after visiting Saubhagbhai: ‘I am amazed and unable to express the height of Saubhagbhai’s Purity, Compassion, Forgiveness, Peacefulness, Tolerance, Determination, Single-mindedness and the Awakened State’.

On Sunday Jeth Sud 14th VS 1953 (1897 CE) Saubhagbhai wrote in a letter to Shrimad “… I have detached myself from this body completely and since eight days I have direct experience that I am the soul, totally separate from the body… and … I believe I will leave this body around Jeth Vad 9th …”

On Thursday, Jeth Vad 10th VS 1953 (1897 CE) when Manilal reminded him at his deathbed to maintain a spiritual state and recited the rosary of ‘SahajAtmaSwarup’, Saubhagbhai replied faintly “… I am totally immersed within. I am in complete equanimity and advise you also to cultivate this equanimity. Please do not distract me henceforth because every second I divert my attention to you, I have to withdraw from my self …”. With these auspicious last words, he turned onto his left side and at 10:50 AM,  Saubhagbhai, Shrimad's soul mate, passed away in complete equanimity, a noble elevated death known as Samadhi Maran.

Valentines Day Swadhyay - Feb 2021

14th February 2021

We rely on worldly love to support us,
But it is Param Pujya Bhaishree's ethereal love that elevates us.
Absolute and undeterred faith in him ascertains all will be fine,
And with his divine grace by our side, we will surely shine.

His unbounded, selfless love draws us towards him,
And steadfastly ties us to the supreme.
His unending compassion takes us towards the light of existence,
Leaving behind the darkness of ignorance.

Holi 2020: Breaking the Mirage

Mar 8, 2020, Mumbai

Just over 90 wide eyed, excited mumukshus (true seekers of Liberation) gathered on a beautifully decorated lawn, early in the morning, to welcome their revered Saduru. It was an extraordinary day with three celebrations, Param Pujya Bapuji’s birthday, Women’s Day and Holi (the festival of colours)!

DSC_0003-001.jpg
DSC_0009.jpg
DSC_0005-001.jpg
DSC_0011-001.jpg

The day started with a divine welcome to Param Pujya Bhaishree and an inspirational poem by Brahmnishth Vikrambhai appreciating the contribution of women to the lives of those around them and to society at large. The upliftment of women was a cause close to Bapuji’s heart. It was his dream to see young rural women receive education and unlock their full potential, and today, we see Bhaishree successfully fulfilling this dream.

Bhaishree followed this with a beautiful and thought-provoking story about a man, Manvo who used to earn his livelihood by pretending to be someone else:

Bhaishree then proceeded to explain to us how we are all just like Manvo. Manvo perfected his acts, so do we. We are all playing the role of humans behind a mask in this body. Due to our false perception of reality, we believe we are the body we are born in. This leads all living beings to behave in a prescribed manner, with associated behaviours. We are so engrossed in this false belief and take it up so earnestly that we all but forget that we are not that body. In this act, we miss the bigger picture and get lost in the theatrics of a human life, not realising that we are in fact the Soul and not the human body. We need to return to our true nature, that of the Atma

DSC_0117-001.jpg
D0D71C95-0B03-418F-99D8-BB013FE0B7E3-001.jpg

The story highlights our pretentious existence through all our previous incarnations, initiating a feeling of repentance, making us wonder how we passionately hold onto things that were never ours to begin with, how we boost our ego and lose every opportunity to free our Soul from karmic bondage, how proud we are of our wicked minds that engulf us in acts to accomplish our selfish motives. Owing to this loop, we never settle in peace and rest in true blissful happiness.

On the occasion of Bapuji’s birthday, Kalpesh Sheth shared his experiences with Bapuji:

‘Looking into Param Pujya Bapuji’s eyes would spiritually charge one’s soul. When I lived with him in seva, a profound respect manifested. He lived his life as if he was born just to help other souls and live through his remaining karmas. He was an extremely punctual and organised man. He was the master of several virtues. He taught me that I wasn’t my body but my Soul and that it was my karma that deluded me. He would love singing different pads and explain the lines along the way. His explanations would force you to introspect. His explanation of “Jiya jane meri safal ghari ri” has been my best friend on the spiritual path. It helped me sustain my detachment whilst living amidst sansaar. I have been extremely lucky to get the chance to travel with Bapuji. Our trip to the North are some of my fondest memories in life. I had the chance to live extremely closely to him. The Ashram was hosting Saubhagbhai’s Dehvilay Shatabdi Varsh, it was a big event. Preparations had begun months ago and everything was in place. However, two days before the event it started raining heavily. Bapuji prayed for the rain to stop, bearing in mind the important role Saubhagbhai played in Shrimad attaining self realisation and the anant upkaar he has on all of us. Miraculously, it actually stopped raining and the event went on without any interruptions. On reaching 1,008 followers, Bapuji relinquished the high seat of ‘Guru’ to Smt Sadgunnaben C U Shah (Param Pujya Guruma) and Shree Nalinbhai Kothari (Param Pujya Bhaishree). He said that the two of them were his two eyes. His grace ensured that all the mumukshus' love and respect grew thrice instead of being divided amongst the three of them. Such was the greatness and selflessness of Param Pujya Bapuji !’

DSC_0167-001.jpg

Thereafter, all the women, along with Brahmnishth Minalben narrated a brief history of Women’s Day and asked Bhaishree to bless them with strength, to overcome situations in life and to help progress on their inner path.

The mumukshus then broke into a blissful dance while drenched in devotion as Bhaishree greeted everyone individually to celebrate Holi. This tika, of saffron and sandalwood, that Bhaishree annually stamps on everyone’s foreheads is the blessed moment where an Enlightened Master transfers his energy to the disciple. At the end, Bhaishree even blessed everyone with amee jharna, the auspicious sprinkling of holy water, to purify our minds and Souls.

After lunch, everyone was divided into four teams for a games session, with innovative challenges centered around spirituality. A quiz which was aimed at increasing awareness about the Ashram’s humanitarian activities concluded the session.

The enthusiasm of the organisers was evident in the attention given to the minutest detail of the event. Every corner was decorated and every moment was perfectly planned and accounted for. Bhaishree too acknowledged this bhaav and utsaah (enthusiasm).

Brahmnishth Minalben shared her poem written for Bapuji. Vikrambhai then shared a few of Bapuji’s numerous virtues in honour of his birthday and congratulated women for their unacknowledged contribution in daily life. He also spoke about the mother of the nation Kasturba. The day ended with mumukshus feeling privileged  to listen to an audio of Bapuji’s swadhyay which left everyone with moist eyes and hearts full of awe for Bapuji’s innumerable virtues. It proved to be the perfect end as it resulted in strengthened resolve to strive harder on the path laid down by him.

The Day of Unconditional Love – Valentine’s Day 2020

Spiritual love is without limits or boundaries; worldly love is superficial and fluctuating

Valentine’s day: On this day of love, over a hundred mumukshus (true seekers of liberation) of the Shree Raj Saubhag Ashram gathered at Aajivasan Hall, Santacruz, to celebrate with our beloved Sadguru Param Pujya Bhaishree, a personification of selfless love; an epitome of absolute consciousness. With enthusiasm and love in our beating hearts, the entire atmosphere became celestial when mumukshus received Param Pujya Bhaishree with great reverence. It is the fragrance of his love that moved all the mumukshus to sway their hands in the air as if signifying total submission.

IMG-20200215-WA0000.jpg
IMG-20200215-WA0003.jpg

After a sumptuous dinner, our Beloved was welcomed with tilak and garland.

Giving a brief introduction, Param Pujya Bhaishree began his swadhyay by saying that our Valentines are the ones who hold the topmost place in our heart i.e. Bhagwan Mahaveer, Param Krupalu Dev, Param Pujya Bapuji and Param Pujya Guruma. He explained that prem (love) is an innate quality, and as we are all spiritual seekers, we should all endeavour to develop it, enhance it, spread it with whomsoever we are connected with.

Love is the fuel for spiritual growth.

Everyone expects that they should be loved, be dealt with in a friendly manner and is helped in times of difficulty. However, what is more important is how we deal with others. Wherever there exists ignorance (agnan), delusion (mohbhaav), false perception of reality (mithyatva); ego and selfishness are bound to be the central focal points there and it is deeply embedded in everyone. If we deal with others kindly and with compassion, then we are bound to get that back in reciprocation.

Param Pujya Bhaishree continued on this point of living with compassion and grace by narrating a conversation between a Guru and his disciple, which takes this concept one stage further.

The Guru asks the disciple as to what is the purpose of our birth on Earth? The disciple replies that we have taken birth to win the love of mankind. The Guru, not very convinced with his answer makes him think hard by posing a further question, is that the only reason or is there anything beyond? With deep introspection, the realisation strikes the disciple and he understands that his thinking  was narrow, self-centered and selfish. The Guru then points out that rather than worrying about “if we do good to others, will we get that back in return?” instead, “should we not just feel happy about the fact that we have done our part by doing good to others?”

In continuation of the subject, and to drive home the point, Param Pujya Bhaishree quoted several sayings (from key texts), of which some were explained in detail:

  • To earn love, it is absolutely necessary to give love.

  • To live well, love should reflect in our conduct. If that is lacking, then our life is meaningless.

  • When we deal with our immediate friends, relatives, is it really filled with love, or does ego and pride arise out of small differences, and out of that, emanates anger?

  • If we have all the knowledge of the world but lack love then such knowledge is of no use.

  • If we want to live harmoniously, then we have to be conscious, we should create an ability to understand the other person’s feelings and that is the utmost requirement.

  • Just imagine, a world full of love, with everyone dealing with each other with affection and empathy, then do you believe that an atmosphere of struggle and hatred can even survive?

So powerful were these quotes that its impact is everlasting. O dear Bhaishree, if at all we know what universal love is, it is only and only because of you.

Then Param Pujya Bhaishree, the embodiment of true love that he is, narrated a very effective and engrossing story about a priest who was able to overcome his fear and eventually succeed in softening, influencing and transforming Jerry Mason, a ruthless goon, with the three weapons that he had;

   (i) faith (shraddha)

   (ii) pure love and

   (iii) prayer (prarthana).

It eventually resulted in Jerry, who people were frightened of, becoming their saviour. The story reinstalled our faith in the power of selfless love.

Such a flower of love exists in all our hearts. If we realise and understand the true nature of this love, then we will become eternally happy. Not only that, the impact of such love, maintaining such an aura, will spread in such a way that anyone who comes into contact with us, will eventually realise the power and effect of such selfless love. And if this progress happens, conflict and dispute will  become non-existent. We have to understand and imbibe the virtue of such love in our lives and that is our real valentine.

Every act of selfless love and compassion uplifts the vibration of the entire universe.

This was followed by 30 minutes of a mono act about a Brahmin boy, Keshav, who later went on to become the Jain Saint, Muni Shri Veervijayji Maharaj Saheb, by accepting the discipleship under Mahamunishwar Shri Shubhvijayji Maharaj. He was the creator of pujas and many other poems which are simple representations of Jainism, karma theory, the nature of the Lord’s bhakti and the glory of pilgrimage. Through his compositions, he became the immortal signature of devotional history of Jin shashan. This act was enacted through the eyes of his maternal aunt, played by a devout shravika Archana Shah .

The evening culminated with devotional and soulful renditions of songs based on Prem Lakshana Bhakti, which is the highest form of devotion, by Shri Johnybhai and his team.

On this day, it is only appropriate to tell our Beloved “Oh Dear Bhaishree, Your soulful simplicity and love embraces us unconditionally, in spite of our shortcomings. Your untiring efforts to elevate our souls to absolute consciousness, makes us bow down to you in veneration and gratitude”.
